This fully interactive and practical workshop is designed to equip participants with the skills to raise dahlia plants from tubers and a chance to have a go at their own propagation. You'll take home the results of your work to grow on for your garden including the tubers you have used. You will also receive detailed information enabling the plants raised to be grown on to produce high quality blooms for use either commercially or in the home.
After attending one of our enjoyable and informative workshops you will leave with a set of classic dahlia growing skills ... not to mention your cuttings and tubers. Whether you wish to meet new people, learn a new skill, develop an existing one, we teach principles in a relaxed and straightforward manner supporting individuals in making technical choices. We provide all necessary materials & resources, and we keep group sizes small allowing each participant to have ample time with their tutor.
In each workshop Richard uses his many years of experience to ensure that each participant feels comfortable, has fun and takes away a tray of cuttings and set of skills they can feel proud of.
Each participant will be provided with all the materials needed, results of the workshop will be taken away by participants:
- four tubers from which cuttings will be taken
- seed tray
- compost
- rooting compound
- plant labels
- GENERAL PURPOSE GARDENING KNIFE INCLUDED

This workshop is for all who wish to raise their own dahlia plants whether commercial cut flower growers or gardeners who want to fill their borders with colour and have gorgeous flowers in their own cutting garden.

- 9:00 Meet and greet with tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits
- 9:30 Workshop begins with introduction
- 9:45 Serious work begins!
- Starting tubers into growth
- Taking cuttings from the tuber
- Preparing cutting (striking)
- Inserting into compost
- Potting on rooted cuttings
10:45 Break for more tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits (and possibly cakes) 11:00 Time for participants to work! Taking your own cuttings with individual tuition and guidance 12:45 Buffet lunch with a choice of desserts and more tea, coffee or soft drinks 2:00 Workshop ends, time to depart
